MAATA District 5 Elections!

This fall there will be elections held for the following positions:

  • President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer

Mark Coberly will chair the election committee that will oversee the process.  If you are interested in running for one of these District Offices, please refer to the information below.  If you have questions please reach out to Mark Coberley (coberley@iastate.edu) or Rusty McKune (president@maatad5.org).

Election mechanics for District President Secretary and Treasurer 2022

President Secretary / Treasurer
Qualifications
  1. Must be a current MAATA Member in good standing AND;
  2. Must be a Certified Member of the NATA for at least 5 years in good standing AND;
  3. Must be a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer for at least 5 years in good standing AND;
  4. Have served as an elected member on another NATA District Board of Directors OR:
  5. Have served as an elected officer within a state association OR:
  6. Have served as the chair for a standing MAATA Committee.
    1. Must be a current MAATA Member in good standing AND;
    2. Must be a Certified Member of the NATA in good standing AND;
    3. Must be a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing
Timeline
July 11 Interested candidates inform the DEEC Chair of their desire to seek office.

Begin submitting application materials to include:

  • Letter of interest
  • Resume/Vita

July 25 Application materials due to Chair of DEEC

Chair informs District President of number of candidates

DEEC begins review of all candidates

State Representatives narrows candidates to 1 for secretary and 1 for treasurer from their respective state;

Sends the final Candidates to DEEC Chair;

DEEC begins review of all candidates

August 2 DEEC narrows the field of all eligible candidates to two (2) candidates DEEC narrows the field of all eligible candidates to two for each office
August 3 DEEC presents candidates names to the MAATA BOD Executive Committee DEEC presents candidates names to the MAATA BOD Executive Committee
August 10 MAATA BOC call to approve final candidates MAATA BOD approves final candidates for each position
August 11 2 finalists notified by DEEC Chair 2 finalists for each position notified by DEEC Chair
