The 2014 MAATA Annual Meeting and Symposium will be held March 27-29, 2014, at the Sheraton Hotel in Des Moines, IA. Room reservation instructions will be available in the near future.
Pre-Conference Workshops will once again be scheduled this year. The pre-conference workshop for students will begin the morning of Thursday, March 27th with the ACES Preparatory Workshop for Taking the BOC Exam. More information on the ACES workshop will be available soon. The pre-conference workshop for Certified Attendees will be on Thursday afternoon and will be centered around Psychological Aspects of Athletic Training. This workshop will be sponsored by the NATA. Information regarding the content of the workshop, number of evidence-based CEUs, number of overall CEUs, and registration procedures will be posted on the MAATA website and shared in a future e-blast.
Please note that the general sessions will be held on Thursday evening, March 27th (6:00-9:00pm); Friday, March 28th (all day); and Saturday, March 29th (8:00am-12:00pm) with the Annual Meeting & Symposium ending after the noon MAATA Business Meeting. Some of the topics for this year’s Symposium include: Movement Assessments and Corrective Exercises, International Team Travel, Rehabilitation of the Upper Extremity, Liability and Risk Management, and much more. There will also be Student Sessions, the Quiz Bowl, Free Communications Presentations, the Hall of Fame and Awards Dinner, and the President’s Reception. A schedule will be posted on the MAATA Website at a later date.
The MAATA Annual Meeting Planning Committee is looking for professionals in District V who would like to present during the general sessions. Please read the attached “General Session Call for Proposals” and consider submitting a proposal for one of the sessions. The deadline to submit a proposal is October 11, 2013.
For the past several years, the committee has given an opportunity for district members to present a “Free Communications”. Proposals are being accepted for these as well and include original research and tips from the field. The format is 15 minutes of presentation followed by five minutes of questions. The MAATA Free Communications Call for Proposals is also attached. The deadline to submit a proposal is October 21, 2013.
Finally, students, please consider submitting a proposal to present during the student sessions. The District V Athletic Training Student Leadership Council will be sending an e-mail to all Program Directors that will contain the forms and procedures for proposing a poster or podium presentation along with the proposal deadlines.
